  17.      The _d_i_s_a_b_l_e_X_h_o_s_t utility is used to prevent remote hosts from placing
  18.      windows on or otherwise getting access to the local display during a
  19.      user's login session.  All remote hosts will have display access
  20.      disabled, whether access originally was granted implicitly (ex., using
  21.      xxxxhhhhoooosssstttt ++++) or explicitly (ex., using xxxxhhhhoooosssstttt ++++ _h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e).  Remote toolchests
  22.      will no longer be able to post windows on the local display; however,
  23.      remote iconviews (dirviews) will be able to continue displaying and
  24.      spawning child iconviews.

  27.      This utility is invoked when the user selects System > Disable Remote
  28.      Display from the toolchest.  It is not intended to be run directly by the
  29.      end user.

  32.      In the IRIX Interactive Desktop (IID), there are four different ways to
  33.      control display access:

  36.      Permanent Methods:
  37.  
  38.          1) Through the Improve System Security task in the System Manager
  39.  
  40.          2) From the Desktop toolchest > Customize > Desktop, on
  41.             the Enable Remote Display toggle button
  42.  
  43.  
  44.      Temporary Methods:
  45.  
  46.          3) Indirectly from the Desktop toolchest, from Access Files then
  47.             As Another User or By Remote Login
  48.  
  49.          4) From the System toolchest > Utilities > Enable Remote
  50.             Display or Disable Remote Display

  53.      Permanent settings are remembered and restored between login sessions.
  54.      Temporary settings override the permanent settings during the current
  55.      session, lasting only until the user logs out.

  74.      Method 1 lets you enable or disable display access for the whole system
  75.      for new users -- that is, users whose accounts are created through the
  76.      IRIX 6.3, 6.4, and 6.5 system administration User Manager after the
  77.      Improve System Security task is run.  If users have their own _x_h_o_s_t(_1)
  78.      setting in their own customized dotfiles, then their settings there will
  79.      override the setting made in method 1.

  82.      Method 2 enables or disables display access immediately when you change
  83.      the Enable Remote Display toggle, but its effects last permanently,
  84.      across login sessions.  Methods 3 and 4 can override this setting, but
  85.      the overriding effect lasts only during the current session.

  88.      Method 3 enables display access for a specific host whose toolchest or
  89.      dirview the user wants to view.  The access is enabled automatically for
  90.      the specified host.  This setting lasts only for the current session.

  93.      Method 4 enables or disables display access immediately and its effects
  94.      last temporarily, only during the current login session.  It can override
  95.      settings made through any other method, but the overriding effect lasts
  96.      only during the current session.

  112.      There is an ambiguity in that the Desktop panel does not show the current
  113.      display access status but instead shows the user's default preference.
  114.      In 6.5, the user can be assured that they are disabling all remote access
  115.      either by unchecking the Desktop panel's Enable Remote Display toggle or
  116.      by selecting System > Disable Remote Display.
